MGMA’s latest look at provider compensation finds that modest increases have occurred across primary and specialty care, with PCPs seeing a 3.4% rise and specialty physicians seeing a 4.4% increase between 2017 and 2018. Total compensation across provider titles has increased between 7% and 11% over the last five years, a trend that will no doubt continue as practices seek to attract shrinking pools of talent with attractive compensation packages. The Midwest and South offered the most lucrative compensation rates, while Eastern regions offered the lowest.
